Original request for help:

I am trying to add a new navbar/navbar design to a website that I am building. The problem is that when I try and space the navbar away from the top of the page, it creates the horrible ugly blank space that I cannot figure out how to get rid of; instead of filling it in with the rest of the backround that is applied to the <div> that contains the navbar and the rest of the content.

I have tried:

• Spacing it using
  • padding
  • margin
  • </br>
  • <br>
  • <hr>
• Adding it into its on <div> element
• Applying the same backround to the navbar
